Jerry Stiller's wife Anne Meara is still alive!
Comedienne Anne Meara was born on September 20, 1929, in Brooklyn, New York, to Mary Dempsey and Edward Joseph Meara, who were both of Irish descent.
Meara and her husband, Jerry Stiller were members of the improvisational company, the Compass Players, which afterwards became SCTV (1976). They performed as a pair under the name "Stiller and Meara", and after some time became regulars on "The Ed Sullivan Sullivan Show".
Their profession gradually declined as did variety series. Meara went on to act in several TV series - a regular on Rhoda as one of the title character's best friends. She played the character of Sally Gallagher, and her performance in the TV series won her a Golden Globe.
Meara also co-starred with Carroll O'Connor in the early 1980s hit sitcom Archie Bunker's Place (1979) where she played Veronica Rooney. More recently, Meara had a recurring role on the HBO television series Sex and the City (1998) where she played Mary Brady.
