Joan Rivers (born Joan Alexandra Molinsky on June 8, 1933 in Brooklyn, New York City, New York) does not have a twin sister.
She does, however, have an older sister, Barbara Cushman Waxler, who was an attorney. She passed on in 2013. Joan has remarked that she was a trailblazer, having graduated from Columbia University and pursued law at a time when few women did.
Her parents were Meyer Molinsky, a doctor, and Beatrice Molinsky who was raised in Imperial Russia.
Rivers was a writer and actress, known for The Joan Rivers Show (1968), Joan Rivers: A Piece of Work (2010) and The Joan Rivers Show (1989).
She had been married twice:

Edgar Rosenberg (15 July 1965 - 14 August 1987, upon his death)
Sadly we just lost the queen of comedy on September 4, 2014. She succumbed to cardiac arrest after suffering complications from throat surgery on August 28, 2014; she was 81 years old.
